Anne Tromsness

Warehouse Theatre

Anne Kelly Tromsness, Education Director for The Warehouse Theatre in Greenville, has worked in outreach, arts education, and community engagement in the non-profit sector and in private and public education. She holds an M.A. in Arts Administration from Winthrop University, and her vocational and research focus has been in theatre, as an actor, a director, educator, and administrator. She was a staff member at Trustus Theatre in the late 1990’s, and taught at the SC Children’s Theatre for many years after moving to Greenville in 2001. At the SC Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, she served in administration as the Director of Outreach and Enrollment Development, and later worked with the students in Community Service and Service Learning. It was this work with these young artists that helped her solidify her love of community engagement, and build practices and a philosophy of the arts in symbiosis with community transformation. Annually, The Warehouse Theatre partners with nearly three dozen non-profit organizations in its community engagement and applied theatre programming, provides workshops to approximately 50 elementary, middle and high schools, and this year, is reaching  5 communities and almost 10, 000 young people in North and South Carolina with its educational touring production and associated outreach programs. Anne designs and directs the implementation of this programming – training teaching artists, writing grants with the development director, establishing relationships with public, private, governmental and educational entities, and developing strategies for sustainable growth.
