Daniel Ellison is an arts-law attorney in private practice in Durham, NC. He has been working with theaters, playwrights, artists, non-profit arts organizations, and for-profit arts entrepreneurs for over twenty years. He teaches “Legal Issues for the Performing Arts,” in the Theater Studies Dept. at Duke. He also writes the legal issues column for the SETC Newsletter. He has training as an audio describer for theater and is planning a 2019 symposium, “Theaters & Accessibility for People with Disabilities.” Affiliations include: Durham Arts Council, NCCU Art Museum (Chair), Friends of the Gregg Art Museum, Durham Cultural Advisory Board, NC Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (former chair & E.D.), Raleigh Learning Community for Arts & Disability.
